Customs help make knowledge acquisition a smooth process. For example, conventions for discussion, questions, and research are available in related categories. Electronics offer many resources.

Learning

Learning is the acquisition of knowledge through study. Education is a process for learning with teachers to share knowledge. The internet is the biggest repository of knowledge.

Hence, web serves as a teacher. Often for those who cannot afford a traditional education. Alternatively, as an assistant for those who can.

We all study to learn. Using the internet is a form of self-directed education. No direct oversight from teachers.

Web Based Training

Web Based Training has forms. In essence trainings are tutorials taken for professional reasons. Tutorials typically contain screen casts. Screen casts are not necessarily formal. Formal web based trainings include quizzes, tests, and certifications. As a caveat, certifications do not mean much if the skills acquired are not used on a regular basis.

A screen cast is a video presentation that shows a person actually completing a task. The trainee follows along. They are about everything from sewing buttons to computer programming. Computer programming is popular because the practise is evolving rapidly.

There are two terms to describe typical screen casts, ‘cutting edge’ and ‘bleeding edge’. Cutting edge practises are more accepted than bleeding edge practises. Describes professional tutorials because formal education systems have not yet adopted the practises. They are often industry segment specific.

MOOC

Teachers and professors set the tone. After, students find answers on our own. And so, all around helpful engagement. It follows, main reason cited for taking online classes is convenience. So working people enrol. Plus, men and women with family to take care of. Last, the poor can learn something new. Therefore, all of us are learning.

M for massive. Thousands or hundreds of thousands of participants. Often, pass fail homework. Furthermore, automated grading process. O for open. This refers to enrolment. Anyone can register for this type of class. Participants have a wide range of educational background. O for online. Need internet to access course material. Reliable high speed connection required. C for course. Alternatively, class. And so, a formal group on a defined learning path. At the skills are tested and certified.

In any event, harder than than typical online classes. College level. Less administrative support. And so, we rely on classmates more. There is no way to give personal feedback. Every student must do what is necessary on their own to score well on an exam. Listening to a lecture is the smallest part of learning in the class.

Learning Netiquette

Education netiquette includes all aspects of elearning. Given, we use of electronics to learn. Then, practises are ed tech tips. Also, ed chat. Since, we read and discuss.

Teachers share knowledge. Online they assist in its acquisition. Help us study instead of teaching. Given, not available to answer questions as they arise.

Self directed study is online learning. Teachers in real life use the internet to assist in sharing knowledge. Some direction when teachers supervise the acquisition of knowledge.

As a result, reading comprehension, computer skills, and discipline are characteristics of a good student. Projects prove knowledge can be applied as skill. Certifications have value when you show your work. Study, learn, do.
