No Self Reviews Netiquette Book Networks

What do you think of a book review by an author?

Do not be too harsh. I would think it is probably their first book. If it is not, I would think that they are having trouble selling it.

Book Networks No Self Reviews

A book review is a rating that is given to books with optional comments. Books are rated by stars up to five. Five stars is usually the best review an author can get. Accompanied by comments makes it even better. Reviewing your own book is biased because you are obliged to give it a good rating and positive comments. It is no different than the advertising copy used to sell it. However, it is not the place for an advertisement. It is a place for genuine reviews that will help a potential reader gauge what others think of the work. The author reads their own work, so it’s not a lie, but it is considered unethical by some.
