The United States of America supports freedom of expression through blogging. This website is intended for the United States. Freedom is good netiquette and includes the freedom to blog about whatever you want. I support Net Neutrality.
How you write a blog is up to you. There are many different writing styles to choose from. It is good netiquette to be consistent. The Creative Commons license is the standard for blogging, but many services copyright your material for you.
The inverted pyramid style of writing is used for journalistic blogs. Essay format is used for personal blogs. Some bloggers post video and other forms of media.
Blogs are expressions of your opinion. If you have an audience, it is good netiquette, as long as it is consistent. The first amendment protects what you write within reason.
Consistency in terms of blogging means that you post on a regular basis. Professional bloggers post three to four times a week. For a blog to be legitimate you must post regularly for approximately six months.
Know who owns your material and how it can be used. In general if your work is copyrighted, that means you own it and have to be contacted before it is used. If you are using a Creative Commons License others may use your work to varying degrees.
The blogosphere is the community of bloggers. This includes Twitter, which is a micro-blog. Blogsphere is a reference to the general sentiments of bloggers in a particular blog community.
For example, a hot news story could send the blogsphere a-twitter. This means that there is a trending topic on Twitter for those interested in the story. There are many types of blogs from personal to professional with a variety of audiences, if any at all.
Building an audience, gaining followers, and getting comments is not luck. It takes good content first, social media marketing, and active participation in the blog community.
Content is king on the internet. Users vote with their views. Good content spreads with a little social media marketing. Social media marketing is telling your friends about your blog and getting them to tell their friends. Asking for others to share your blog works and is a legitimate marketing technique. You must give comments in order to receive them. A good rule of thumb is that you will receive one comment for every ten that you leave.
